MARKUS HONERLA‘s abstract painting is uniquely shaped by his intensive occupation with sculpture and painting during his studies at the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf, as a master student of Tony Cragg, and later with photography and digital image processing.

Since 2007 he has turned completely to painting. What fascinates him about painting is the immediacy of real time. Nothing can be limited, inflated or repeated like with the computer. Painting requires maximum skill. His artistic experiences in the various genres give his work an unmistakable style. Fine parallel line reliefs show levels and layers that break out of context and are pushed over others. These different structures and fragments enable different perspectives into diverse worlds at a single glance.
